How to use Brain Gym
One short session a day. It mixes memory training with maths and general knowledge, adjusts its own difficulty, and saves every result to the cloud.
Put it on the home screen
So it opens like an app, with no typing:
- iPhone: open mybraingym.pages.dev in Safari, tap the Share button (square with an arrow), then Add to Home Screen.
- Android: open it in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen.
The routine
- Open the Today tab and press Start session. It runs four parts in order and takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Same time every day, 5 days a week. After school or after dinner works well. A fixed slot matters more than the length.
- The plan is shown before he starts, so he always knows what is coming and how long is left.
- Once the session is done, stop. Doing more in one go helps less than coming back tomorrow.
- Every Sunday, look at the Progress tab together. Judge the trend over 4 to 6 weeks, not day to day.
What each part does
- Memory warm-up. Two short games per day, alternating: Numbers and Grid Path one day, Word List and Match Back the next. These are the same kinds of tasks psychologists use to measure memory (digit span, Corsi blocks, word recall and N-back).
- Maths. 10 questions, typed in. It starts at his level, steps up after 3 right in a row and steps down after 2 wrong in a row. Ten levels run from adding within 20 up to solving for x.
- Knowledge. 12 questions across science, geography, history, English and everyday life skills. Questions he gets wrong come back the next day. Questions he gets right come back after longer and longer gaps (1, 2, 4, 8, then 16 days). A fact counts as mastered once he has got it right 3 times across separate days.
Rules that make it work
- Getting some wrong is normal and means the level is right. If he gets everything right, it is too easy, and the app will move him up.
- Don't give him the answers during a round. Trying to remember is what builds the memory.
- Praise effort and focus ("you stuck with it"), not only scores.
- If he is tired or upset, stop and come back tomorrow. A missed day does not reset anything.
Practice away from the screen
Memory games make him better at memory games. The carry-over into daily life is strongest when the same skills are practised in real tasks too:
- Give 3-step instructions and have him repeat them back before starting.
- Read him a shopping list of 5 items, then have him get them from memory.
- At breakfast, have him say the plan for the day. At dinner, have him say what happened.
- Cook a simple recipe with him reading one step at a time, then doing it without looking.
- Have him learn and lead a short route, like the walk to the shop.

Start again
Reset deletes every result, on this phone and in the cloud, and starts all levels again from the beginning.
Delete all progress? This cannot be undone.
